The short list
- A jacket or warm clothes. You reach the sunrise point at around 04.45 am, before the sun is up.
- Long or short pants. Whatever you are comfortable sitting in on a jeep.
- A camera or phone. The sunrise, the jeep and the black lava field make for great photos.
Why a warm layer matters
The tour starts in the dark, and most of the waiting happens before sunrise, high up on the volcano. Mornings up there feel much cooler than in Ubud, so a jacket you can take off later is the most useful thing in your bag.
What we bring for you
You do not need to pack food or a torch. Every tour includes:
- Hotel pick-up and return by air-conditioned car
- Banana pancake with coffee or tea at the basecamp
- Breakfast at the sunrise point, served by your driver
- Mineral water and a flashlight
- A private local guide who speaks English
- Insurance for your entire trip
Small extras worth packing
Comfortable shoes help when you walk on the black lava and black sand after sunrise. A small bag for your jacket and a charged phone are useful too.
